Mountains Ski Resort
When Ski Magazine reported, "...among the Midwest ski resorts, the Whitecap terrain and trail system is most like the mountains," they weren't kidding. With 43 runs carefully sculpted from three mountains within the ancient Penokee Range, you'll discover fun terrain suitable for every skill level. When taken all together -- the mountains, the Polar Bear Bowl, the Alpine Village, Weber Lake and a huge variety of lodging on the mountains -- this truly is Wisconsin's largest ski resort. Kinderschule at Whitecap offers new and innovative learn-to-ski programs for the littlest skiers, beginning at age 4. The learn-to-ski area is sheltered from the wind and away from the main ski traffic. Advanced skiers like that the black diamonds don't turn green half-way down, offering a funl challenge from top to bottom.
The Whitecap Mountains have state-of-the-art snowmaking, yet there's nothing quite like natural snow and no resort in Wisconsin comes close! On the western front of the Lake Superior Snow Belt, the annual snowfall tops 200 inches prompting Powder Magazine to call these mountains, "... a hidden powder haven." Lodging at Whitecap is great for families and groups of every size. The Whitecap Lodge offers traditional hotel rooms and suites, featuring a large swimming pool and huge hot tub. Davos Swiss Inn is a perfect facility for ski groups up to 40. And you'll find condos and chalets, most with fireplaces, within the Alpine Village. Since 1967, Dave and Evie Lundberg have been building these mountains to be the most fun place to ski in the Midwest. Today, three generations of Lundbergs work together to offer a great skiing experience.
