Mountain Ski Resort If you live in New York or New Jersey, you will probably find Shawnee Mountain Ski resort the most convenient ski area to travel to. Since 50 percent of its terrain rated “green,” this is a great beginner’s mountain. The only terrain for advanced skiers and riders is on the North Face of the mountain, where you can find some steeps and mogul runs. Although Shawnee Mountain has 100 percent snow making capacity, they usually get about six feet of snow annually. The vertical drop is about 700 feet, and there are 23 trails served by nine lifts.
