- Mt. Hood Area - Timberline Ski Resort
This resort is 60 miles from Portland. There is more than half of the terrain for beginners. The only drawbacks that could potentially be a problem was the dangerous road ascending to the lodge and the surprising lack of black diamond terrain. But, even the best skier or boarder could still find a challenge here, though. This resort usually lasts far into summer. The summer skiing tends to be far better than the winter skiing.
The terrain is awesome and the views can't be beat. The snow is great, the people are great. The lodge is a great place to hang out. This is where most of the people are. It gets so crowded in the lodge with not enough seating for everyone especially if the day was a nasty one. The ticket here is a little pricy. It is not as top notch as it sounds for almost 50 bucks a ticket.
