Skiing Apache - Thousands of feet above White Sands National Monument and adjacent to one of our nation's only two east-west mountain ranges, Ski Apache may have the most memorable view of any resort in the west. Due to its proximity to Juarez and Texas, the resort gets an equal share of vacationers from Texas, Mexico, and New Mexico. You are likely to learn just about anything on a chairlift at this wonderful mountain. The chairlifts go right up the flanks of the Apache Tribe's sacred 12,000 foot Sierra Blanca and the mountain boasts terrain of every kind. Screaming Eagle is a mogul run that can hold its own with any other in the west, and Game Trail is one of my favorite groomed runs of all time. Hint: In an El Nino snow year, book your vacation here, because they often get more early and late season snow than anyone else. Often a rogue storm will come out of the Baja and moisten the Chihuahua province of Northern Mexico but miss all of the ski areas in the US- except, of course, Ski Apache.
