Sandia Peak Ski Area Snowboard New Mexico - Sipapu Ski Area
Sipapu is an isolated cove in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. It is a beautiful resort with very little traffic as one would say. The lift lines are always a quick in and a quick out. You definitely get your money’s worth going here. The only downfall is that it is a smaller resort with not a whole lot of terrain. The name of the resort is the land of paradise and it truly lives up to its name. The staff is very friendly and the ambiance of this place is incredible. The ticket prices can not be beaten.

The memories you get from this place are ones of a lifetime. There is big enough lodge to stay warm in or to just plain relax for lunch. The staff in here are very hospitable and are they to make your trip that much better. If you are a beginner this is a great place to start just for the fact that you wont get trampled down the mountain. There is cabins for rent in the area and some great restaurants close by. If you are out for a cheap and fun ski weekend this is the way to go. You will definitely get more bang for your buck here. Ski Sipapu!

  • Other Features:
    • Great Atmosphere
    • Friendly Staff
    • No lift lines/not crowded

Skiing Sipapu - I came up to Sipapu for a nice day of skiing a few years back, and I found that it had not changed a single bit in the ten years or so it had been since my previous visitation. I meant that in a good way. The lift operators not only asked how I was doing, but they were truly interested in the response. I befriended every staff member that I encountered and ended up spending the day skiing with half of the ski patrol, enjoying every minute of it. The resort is very small and intimate, and as a result, not very expensive. If you don't want a freeway's worth of skiers in every run and a valley filled with car exhaust, I challenge you to find Sipapu's isolated cove in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Joey Smallwood
