Snowboard New Mexico - Sandia Peak Ski Area
This resort is cool because of the aerial tram that takes you from the very bottom to the very top of the mountain which is about 2.7 miles. It also has some great skiing for all levels. The snow could be better on most days, this would be the biggest downfall of this resort. Many people will agree with the prices a little outrageous and the wait for the lifts is not the greatest either. Sandia is really close to a town that offers everything you will need from lodging to food and to a happenin’ night life. You and your whole family shall enjoy an excellent ski vacation here.
For the prices being so high it seems that the rest of the resort doesn’t really make up for it. The ski patrol are friendly but it seems as if they barely know what they are doing. The terrain does tend to get icy because of the shade that the trees give off. The lodge is nice but it definitely could be way nicer. Sandia Peak makes a great day trip.

Skiing Sandia - Sandia is Albuquerque's little secret. Located atop the world's longest aerial tramway (there's also a road up the back side of the mountain), the mountain, in true New Mexican style, sports some of the greatest views of any ski area on earth. Topping out at over ten thousand feet, Sandia Crest is an alpine island surrounded by red and yellow deserts in all directions. The overall angle of the slopes is easy to moderate, but there are a few runs to keep an advanced skier entertained for weeks on end. Unfortunately, I have yet to catch Sandia ski area with good snowfall and poor management has left the mountain devoid of a good terrain park system or comprehensive snowmaking. Joey Smallwood
