Snowboard New Mexico - Red River ski area
With incredible views and incredible skiing Red River Mountain is the best in New Mexico. You will truly find this place to be like home. The top of the mountain is great for skiers/snowboarders looking for some hard terrain. This resort is part of a ski town. One thing that can be bad about this resort is that there tends to be a lot of crowds. You will find anything that you are looking for here. There accommodations are wonderful. There is lodging, restaurants, tons of nightlife, a lodge with great food and a rental shop.
This is a big ski resort so if crowds are not your thing you most likely will not enjoy this resort. The thing that gets most people here is how varied the terrain is. This ski resort is known for the incredible views, they all seem to be panoramic. There are mixed emotions on this ski resort. Some people come out loving it and having the time of there life with excellent skiing. Some people end up hating it because the lines were too long and it was way too crowded. You will need to experience this resort for yourself and go in with an open mind. Enjoy your time here.

Skiing Red River - Anyone heading up from Texas really needs to consider cutting the mileage in half and checking out Red River. It has everything that you'd want in a Colorado ski area and none of the things you don't want. Red River is at the base of 13,000 foot Wheeler Peak, New Mexico's highest mountain, which provides amazing snow and spectacular panoramic views of wonderful northern New Mexico. It is open longer than most other New Mexican resorts. For those advanced skiers, I recommend the top portion of the resort and all of the trees that the largely family-oriented clientele will leave fresh and soft for you weeks after a storm. As for the town, think Telluride without the snobs.
