- Porcupine
Mountains Ski Area When you come to Porcupine Mountain realize that it is not the best resort in Michigan. There are only 14 trails that consist with the downhill skiing. But if you are not interested in downhill skiing there is cross country skiing. Here they offer 42 km. It does get a little crowded on the weekends and during the week not so much. Most people that come here are coming here because they do not know how to ski or they are just taking a day to refresh the basics. This mountain is located in the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park. The view from the top of the mountain is impeccable.
For how old the equipment is here they make sure the snow is top of the line. The chair lifts are slow and it takes a while for you to get up the mountain. The lounge has a cool fireplace and makes for a nice place to get cozy on a cold day. The air quality here is magnificent. If you get hungry the food could taste a little better so bring a sack lunch. There is lodging on the mountain the rooms are smaller though. You really just use it for a place to crash and get up in the morning to jump on the mountain quickly. If you like warm, happy environments come to Porcupine Mountain.
