Snowboarding at sundown mtn. is pretty schweet the ppl there are very friendly.
If you fall they normally over to help you up or so if u cant normaly as a
boarder and see skiers we help out and try not to cut off the skiers.
Skiing Sundown - Having learned to ski in the West, living in Iowa was going to be tough without
skiing. Thank heaven for Sundown!
Short and sweet, with challenges and cruisers, it's a nice place in the middle
of a cornfield. There's a timed racecourse, a huge halfpipe, and you can test
your skills on Gunbarrel or Headwall.
There is free ski checking, a nice fireplace to warm you in the lodge, and the
ski patrol is friendly and skilled. The beginner area is one of the better I've
seen. There is a magic carpet and a double chair that serves only the beginner
area. I didn't find it too crowded any weekend I went there. The price was
right, and for Iowa/Illinois, it's top notch.
Downfall: there's no lodging closeby. However, Dubuque is a Fascinating town,
with many excellent B&B's at reasonable prices. Check out the Richards House in
Dubuque for Victorian charm and superb breakfast at a great price.
