Skiing at Eldora - expert -Thinking I knew everything about Colorado skiing, I laughed when a friend from CU invited me to ski at Eldora ski area, on the Denver side of the great divide. My laughter stopped when I saw how much the mountain reminded me of my home ski area, the hidden gem Ski Santa Fe. The mountain had received nearly thirty inches in four days and the snow was not only deep, but fresh tracks were found all over the Corona chair. By the end of the day I found myself ranking the Corona quad chair among Colorado's top fifteen powder vehicles. Although I'm a skier and an Alta purist, I really enjoyed the predominantly snowboarding atmosphere that seemed to make everything glow with the wild freshness of youth and powder. I'll never feel the need to drive for hours on a powder morning again if I find myself a bit foggy brained and on the Front range. Joey Smallwood
