Skiing at Breckenridge - expert - I drove up to right after the storm of the century, back in 2003, and discovered forty inches of fresh. I found no shortage of hidden tree stashes and long, untracked faces. The secret of this resort's quality lies in its sheer mass. I am pretty sure that the entire population of Denver could descend upon Breckenridge and I still wouldn't have to wait in a lift line for longer than five minutes. The mountain's low elevation and exposure to the sun can make for less than perfect conditions off piste, which is precisely why they have such an awe-inspiring fleet of snowcats and terrain park maintenance machines. There are not many places on earth that have such perfect corduroy, sunshine, and views. Mix that with one of America's greatest mountain towns for gettin' down and funky and you'll see why I've never turned down a trip out to Breck.

Skiing at Breckenridge - Breck was my first ski trip in Colorado and it cemented my love of the laid-back mountain town environment. To some, the actual town may just seem like a shopper’s retreat, with its trying-to-be quaint shops and high-priced pubs and restaurants. But if you look closer, what you’ll find is a fantastic weekend of skiing and hanging out with a great mix of people. There is a convenient bus system that can take you basically wherever you want, including some challenging Nordic Ski trails. Breck itself has tons of area to cover, which means you won’t be able to take the entire resort on in one day, or even one weekend. The back bowls are fantastic, with powder skiing galore. Lodging can be relatively inexpensive if you plan ahead. Jaime Case
Skiing Breckenridge - Breckenridge has a reputation for being windy, and its nickname is BreakinWind, is earned on occasion. Wind aside, it’s more of an intermediate mountain, so if you’re learning, this is your Nirvana.
There are wide open, easy trails, like Soliloquy, that you can practice your skills on. The blues are gentle in comparison to other resorts in the County, and are groomed well. There’s snowmaking on some of these, and that makes it one great place to learn to ride.
There is a bus to take you from peak to another if you wish, and for parents with kids, this is a great feature. Rather than skiing from one peak to another, just ski down and hop on the bus to relieve your spouse for a while if you end up at opposite ends of the resort.
I never met a resort I didn’t like, and Breckenridge ranks in the top 10. Bonni
