Araphoe Basin ski resort
An immortal winter giant, the mountain stands tall with a summit elevation of 13,050 feet, blanketed in fresh snow. From the base it invites you, calm and silent. Over a hundred trails expertly carved through its depths and seven chairlifts raising excited patrons to the sky, you stand in awe, captivated by its brilliance as the sun peaks curiously through the snow-filled clouds. It is the Legendary Arapahoe Basin.
Since 1946 Arapahoe Basin has been serving up a fantastic ride for skiers or riders from the Colorado area as well as the world. A-Basin opened on October 9, 2009 and was one of the first to open nationally. Arapahoe Basin receives over 350 inches of snowfall annually.

Skiing Araphoe Basin - Araphoe Basin is the best value for the retired skier in Summit County. Age 70+ you can ski on a day pass for $15 or buy a seasons pass for $45 (thats a no brainier). The same rates may apply for age 65+ but I am not positive about that. Vail Resorts would charge you $85 a day.
The skiing is absolutely fabulous. The resort is full of history and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Sure you don't get free energy bars
handed to you upon arrival and no one carries your skis from your vehicle to the lift; but the skiing is great and thats what you are here for.
They always have the earliest and latest snow due to the highest altitude in the area. With the new bowl on the backside (Montezuma Bowl)
the area has doubled it's size and the area has the most above tree line skiing you will find in the area. The area now has a new mid mountain lodge
which is very nice and convenient. I highly recommend this area for any skier looking for some real skiing experiences and some real values. Roger Coffman

expert - Whether you just came out of your first lesson or off the podium at an extreme skiing contest, you'll be hard pressed to find a ski experience with the level of quality you'll find at A-basin. Every time I have been there, I found the snow conditions to be far better than any other ski area in Colorado, and often times I have gone there simply because it was the only ski area open within hundreds of miles and a number of states. The view of Loveland Pass' north face includes a dozen mouthwatering and spine-tingling couloirs and, while you may not be planning on defying death, they make for a spectacular learning environment to develop your skiing skills in. Palavicinni face is some of the best in-bounds terrain in the nation and the North Pole (hike-to terrain) will put your stomach right in your throat until you have a beer, hours later. Arapahoe basin also sports the beach, which is where ninety five percent of all Colorado's annual bratwursts are prepared, all during the spring and summer months. Whenever I'm headed down that way, I'm certain to bring the six pack, Hawaiian shirt, and change of clothes (there's a lake you'll find yourself attempting to ski across). See you there! Skiing at Arapahoe Basin - A-Basin has a bad rap among Colorado ski snobs who can’t believe that such a great mountain exists within a drivable distance from home. Or maybe that hype is just because most Colorado skiers want to keep the mountain for themselves. Sure, A-Basin is small and no, it doesn’t have the celeb ski bunny atmosphere of Vail. But then again, are you coming to ski or are you coming to drink espresso in the lodge? If you’re looking for a challenge, check out the terrain at Pallivicini. Bring your dog, as the mountain allows pooches to enjoy the snow as well. An added bonus? You can park your car next to the lifts for free. Jaime Case (December 06)
