  Donner Ski Ranch

website: Donner Ski Ranch
- - Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts - Donner Ski Ranch
A GREAT place for your kids to learn to ski. Totally a family atmosphere and is cost-friendly. If you are an intermediate or advanced skier this isn't the place for you.

This resort caters to beginners and it is a great place for families who are just getting started with their skiing experience. It is very cheap, the rentals are even cheap, and yet it still is a very pleasant resort. It is quite, small, and tends to get crowed with beginning skiers. The restaurants on the mountain serve delicious meals and snacks. The people are very friendly. The entire staff from the lift people, the instructors, rental personal, and everyone in general goes out of their way to help make your experience better, especially as a beginner. And it is about 10 miles west of Truckee.

Skiing at Donner Ski Ranch - Chris Hawkins The Long Barn Lodge, ,just 20 minutes away, has SUPER ECONOMY skier rooms around $40. The bathroom is down the hall, but it was never a problem and I've stayed there 4 seasons. It is a family place with a little ice rink. Drinking is best done at the Steam Donkey in Pinecrest (small but loud).

Skiing at Donner Ski Ranch - When I got the chance to go to Donner I was a little girl. I loved it back then. I could go on any run in the whole place. It is really cheap. My dad was able to take all five of us kids and not have a problem with it. During the week this is the best time to go. This place is definitely not for intermediate or advanced skiers. You just will not enjoy it. It is pretty small and has so little to offer to the non-beginner. Donner is very family oriented and a great place to learn how to ski.

Donner was one of the most pleasant places I've ever skied as far as the staff is concerned. They were in fact, really friendly and were totally there to just help you. The lodge is rustic and has every basic necessitate you might need during a day of skiing.

It is also a great place for first time snowboarders. Donner seems to be very popular for beginners. The friendly atmosphere attracts people alone. The backside of the mountain is truly cool also. There is stuff for the whole family at Donner.
