  Dodge Ridge Ski Resort

website: Dodge Ridge
Dodge Ridge Ski & Snowboard Area
With the additions of new lifts and snow parks Dodge is quickly becoming one of the more popular ski resorts of the Sierra Nevada. New management have taken this mid-sized ski resort and geared it to meat snowboarder’s needs without forgetting family principles. For the short drive to a ski resort, Dodge Ridge is the place to be, taking less than 3 hours from most Bay Area cities.

The tickets are about forty five dollars. They have five different terrain parks: Discovery Way, which is for beginners. The Half pipe, Rocky’s Road, Rys Run, and Sunrise, which is for the more intermediate and advanced level. They also have lessons and rentals for the inexperienced skier/snowboarder. Dodge Ridge is a very large ski resort and it is aimed towards the beginner/intermediate skier.

  • Other Features:
    • 5 freestyle terrain parks

Skiing at Dodge Ridge - Dodge Ridge is an excellent resort. It is very family oriented and great for learning how to ski. The staff at Dodge Ridge is very welcoming and always there to answer any questions you may have about the resort. Personally I learned how to ski at Dodge Ridge at a young age. They have great programs for all ages to fit every need you may have while skiing. It is a short drive from the Central Valley. There has been a tremendous amount of snow fall this season, which adds to the excitement of skiing and snowboarding. I would then recommend waiting until snow has been packed and groomed before heading up to the mountain. I found the back of the mountain to be more challenging. I skied on all of the intermediate/advanced runs. The back of the mountain also has a quad chairlift, making it easy to keep your group in tact.

Conveniently there is a food court located mid-mountain that offers an excellent chili cheese bowl. The main lodge offers a wonderful environment for relaxing, eating and socializing with fellow skiers/snowboarders.

Overall Dodge Ridge offers family fun, great runs, and happy times. I recommend this park to anyone looking for a family experience.

Snowboarding at Dodge Ridge - It is good for beginners and intermediates, but for me i don't like this place. It gets crowded the layout of resort is a bit stretched and it is over-rated. The only good thing about this mountain is that it is closer than anything else. Bear Valley the next closest one is half hour more driving but is a better bigger resort but again it is not perfect with no high speed quads. They do have a park at dodge and you can tell they really to try hard to make it a great resort, but its just not for me. I am a Bear man.
