Alpenglow At Arctic Valley Ski Area

More than sixty five percent of this resort is intermediate. There is not a great amount of terrain for beginners. There is some freeride terrain and awesome rail parks. The superpipe is kept well groomed and is something you should not miss out on. Alpenglow ski resort seems to busy really quickly. They try to fit too many people in just for the money and it gets way too crowded. Be ready for long lift lines and for any type of service the line is not going to be short at all!

  • Other Features:
    • Snowcat Skiing
    • Cross Country skiing
    • Snowboard park
    • Super pipe

Skiing at Alpenglow - The best mom and pop shop type ski resort in the world! My family (wife and 2 kids) pay 1000$ combined per season to ride a great, wide open powder paradise. Its small, but its in Alaska, so we still have around a 1000’ of vertical drop, and its all wide open powder fields-when the area is open. There are bigger and flashier hills, but every time I pull into the lot I’m feeling at home!! PS Where else are seasons pass holders members with voting rights? And you can still ride a T-Bar, and primarily will…..although they open 2 other chairs when its crowded enough. Rob Parrish, Anchorage, AK 06'

Skiing at Alpenglow - I stumbled on this area a few years ago in AK visiting my future father-in-law. He knew I loved skiing, drove me to a rental shop for gear, and dumped me in the lot Saturday morning. I couldn’t believe my eyes! I’m from Vermont, so I’ve skied quite a bit in the lower 48, but the simplicity and scope of Alpenglow’s offerings about floored me. There’s a T Bar running straight up the kind of wide open, steep powder field I dream about, and probably 100 others gearing up in the parking lot-I felt like I had the place to myself. Alpenglow’s base is at 2500 feet, so we got great marine snow. Thick and light all at once. One of my favorite memories of my trip to AK, and although you’ve got to hit Aleyeska if you’re in the neighborhood, this place is a great (and well kept) secret! Check it out! Alpenglow Skiing - This place is a prime example of the not knowing what you have until its gone. In the 70’s I was stationed in Anchorage for several years, and being from Southern California, I would’ve gone crazy if I hadn’t had discovered Alpenglow. Me and my buddies would ski every weekend we could-in other words, when the hill wasn’t socked in with fog. I learned to ski here, and some of my fondest memories are of straightlning the powder field under the main T-Bar with to much speed and not enough skill! 23 years later, after riding Southern CA resorts for years, I had a chance to take my family back and it haddn’t changed a bit. Same laid back, friendly people, and same diamond in the rough appeal-great place to ride. 06'
